Bridge to Teen Jewish Identity
Gesher helps eighth and ninth-graders navigate Jewish life beyond Bet Mitzvah. Through interactive discussions, social activities, and service projects, they develop leadership skills and strengthen their personal connections to Judaism.
8th – 9th: Gesher
Gesher, the Hebrew word for “bridge,” transitions students from Bet Mitzvah training into meaningful teen engagement. Designed for eighth- and ninth-graders, this program combines discussions of contemporary issues, Jewish ethics, and community service projects. With guidance from our Cantor and Education Director, students grapple with real-world challenges and learn to apply Jewish perspectives to today’s social and moral dilemmas. Regular meetings, volunteer initiatives, and peer-led sessions make learning hands-on and relevant.
By participating in Gesher, teens forge friendships across grades, build leadership skills, and strengthen their connection to Jewish identity. This “bridge” program ensures that young people remain actively involved at CBSRZ, preparing them for the deeper explorations of Confirmation and beyond.
