ILLNESS

Care and Support During Times of Illness

Care for Healing

When illness strikes, CBSRZ offers prayers, visits, and support. Through pastoral counseling and communal outreach, we help those facing health challenges find comfort and connection in Jewish tradition. Please reach out to the office for pastoral care, whether it’s for yourself or someone you love.

Health challenges can arise unexpectedly, affecting individuals and families both physically and emotionally.

At CBSRZ, we believe that community and spirituality are critical sources of comfort during such times. Our clergy and Chesed volunteers offer pastoral counseling, hospital or home visits, and ongoing support for members coping with illness or recovery. Additionally, we incorporate prayers for healing during services, allowing the entire congregation to stand in solidarity with those in need of renewed strength. Whether you are facing a long-term condition or a brief hospital stay, we invite you to lean on our community. No one should confront illness alone, and we strive to provide a compassionate network of care for all.

Compassion in Moments of Need

Chesed isn’t just a program—it’s our communal promise. We rally around congregants facing health challenges, grief, or other hardships, offering meals, check-ins, and acts of loving kindness.

Chesed

At CBSRZ, Chesed—Hebrew for “loving kindness”—is more than an ideal; it’s the guiding principle that shapes our congregation’s care network. Our Chesed team organizes volunteers to assist those experiencing life’s challenges, whether recovering from surgery, coping with loss, or encountering a difficult personal transition. Services may include delivering home-cooked meals, providing rides to medical appointments, or simply offering a listening ear.

By reaching out to each other, we foster a sense of shared responsibility and compassion that strengthens our community.

Jewish Prayer for Healing

Our Mi Shebeirach List keeps track of individuals who require healing prayers. By submitting names for personal or communal prayer, we ensure our congregation supports those facing illness or recovery journeys.

Mi Shebeirach List

The Mi Shebeirach, a prayer for healing, calls upon the Divine to watch over those who are ill or recovering. At CBSRZ, we maintain a Mi Shebeirach List to ensure that individuals’ names are included in our communal prayers, whether during services or private gatherings. By speaking each name aloud, we unite as a congregation to offer spiritual, emotional, and moral support. Family members and friends can submit names at any time, helping us remain mindful of those who need extra compassion. Should you or a loved one wish to remain confidential, we respect those boundaries while still offering prayerful support.

Our Mi Shebeirach List connects us in shared hope, reflecting Jewish traditions of caring and interdependence.
