Women's Spirituality Weekend

August 23, 24, 2008

Who is God? Where can you find God? Is it possible to experience God even if you don’t believe in God?

These questions, and many other intimate concerns, have often been addressed by Dr. Linda Thal, who will lead a daylong spiritual retreat at the synagogue on Saturday, August 23.

Dr. Thal earned her credentials in disparate places. She has taught spirituality throughout the U.S. as well as, among other countries, Brazil, Argentina, Singapore and China. This rare opportunity to have her visit us came about largely because of a $1,000 grant received by the CBSRZ Women’s Club to be used for such a purpose, and to bring together Jewish women of all traditions in order to renew spiritual commitment and build bridges. It is also supported through the generosity of our members.

Rabbi Goldenberg says, “I look forward to this gathering of women of the Shoreline. It promises to be an experience that will open up the possibilities of connecting to the Divine.”

The program features a Shabbat service,
exercises in finding God in our own experience, approaches to prayer and Jewish spirituality including meditation and meditative exercises. (An optional yoga/meditation class will also be offered, beginning at 8 a.m. The program begins, after a light breakfast, at 9:30.)

The size of the enrollment will be limited so that the gathering can remain intimate. The cost, including breakfast and lunch (kosher food is available), is $65 for those registered by August 8, and $75 thereafter. Please call Wendy at the synagogue, 860.526.8920.

All of our congregants can hear words of wisdom from Dr. Thal, as she will be our guest speaker at Shabbat services on Friday night, Aug. 22, beginning at 7:30.
